The European programme Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs promotes the mobility of new or future entrepreneurs to carry out financed stays with experienced entrepreneurs in the European Union and other associated countries. In 2018, the EYE Global pilot project was launched for stays in the United States, Canada, Israel, South Korea, Taiwan and Singapore.

Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs is a transnational exchange programme that offers new entrepreneurs and those who want to start a business, the opportunity to learn from experienced entrepreneurs in one of the 36 destinations in Europe and other 6 countries worldwide.

The exchange of experiences takes place within the framework of stays with experienced entrepreneurs during which new entrepreneurs will be able to acquire the necessary skills to run a small or medium-sized company. The duratino of the stay can run from 1 to 6 months in European countries and from 1 to 3 months outside Europe.

Hosts benefit from a new perspective on their business, in addition to gaining the opportunity to cooperate with foreign partners and the possibility of knowing new markets through them

With regard to the Canary Islands Institute of Technology, it has been working actively since 2009 as a contact point for the programme, aiming at facilitating the exchange of experiences, learning lessons and networking between new entrepreneurs and experienced entrepreneurs.

ITC participates in the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs programme through the OPEN-EYE consortium.

Who can participate?

  • New entrepreneurs who are seriously planning to start their own business or have done so in the last three years.
  • Entrepreneurs who own or run -as partners- a small or medium-sized company in the participating countries.

To participate, just follow these steps:

  1. Prepare your resume and business plan.
  2. Submit your application online through the European platform.
  3. Select the INSTITUTO TECNOLÓGICO DE CANARIAS as the contact point.
  4. Once validated by the ITC, you will be able to contact host entrepreneurs or companies abroad and define a work plan (dates, objectives and activities to be carried out during the stay).

Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs is financed by the European Commission - 2.848.203,00 €

Main objective: 

The aim of OPEN-EYE-10 is to offer the EYE programme services, providing new entrepreneurs with support to learn from more experienced entrepreneurs from other EU Member States and associated countries with visits to facilitate experience exchange and creation of networks. The activity is aimed at those wishing to setup a company and newly established entrepreneurs.

Specific objectives:

Improve the business spirit, internationalisation and competitiveness of micro-companies and recently created SMEs, likewise to help possible new EU entrepreneurs with the following actions: 

  • Identify and select new and experienced entrepreneurs; 
  • Actions promoting and communicating the mobility scheme; training actions for new entrepreneurs; 
  • Assist new entrepreneurs for the formalisation, stay and follow-up of results, likewise financial contribution (grants);
  • Assist experienced entrepreneurs in receiving the new entrepreneurs.
