The objective of the RECOLECTA project is to develop an intelligent and autonomous agricultural management system that determines the optimal harvest date for each crop (pre-prepared convinience food range), so that the competitiveness of primary sector producers in the food chain can be improved, as well as contributing to food security. The ITC acts as a Public Research Organization (OPI) and, through its Environmental Analysis and Water areas, participates in the project with the aim of contributing to the knowledge of plant protection product residues, monitoring the quality of irrigation water and improving the cleaning process of raw materials in the packaging process. The RECOLECTA Operational Group (Prediction of optimal moment for harvesting through thermal integral management of crops) is financed by the National Program for Rural Development 2014-2020 (PNDR), with an 80% of EC contribution through the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and 20% funding from the State General Administration. RECOLECTA is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), the following being of special interest:

Intelligent Specialisation has become one of the keys to diversification of economic and social development in European regions because it has its own characteristics, challenges and opportunities. The European Commission has insisted on the need to co-ordinate the execution of the RIS3 strategies bearing in mind the neighbouring regions to find synergies and develop complementarities enabling effective implementation of European funds together with a more integrated and co-ordinated development among neighbouring regions. This is why the Commission encourages the development of specific inter-regional and transnational strategies among regions with common elements and whose implementation can be co-ordinated. Having detected the need to establish institutional co-operation mechanisms among all the agents involved in the regional RIS3 Strategies, this RIS3net project aims to develop and implement a common co-operation strategy and co-ordinated governance system together with the agents responsible for planning, execution and follow-up of intelligent specialisation strategies in the MAC regions.

Climate warming is unequivocal and constant emission of greenhouse effect gases will cause additional warming and changes. The islands are particularly vulnerable to climate change (CC); nevertheless, the large spatial resolution of available projects makes it difficult to obtain valid conclusions for the islands. Furthermore, scientific based information regarding the economic impacts of CC in marine and maritime sectors is scarce; likewise current economic models do not include an assessment of a solid market. Those responsible for formulating policies should have accurate information regarding the likely chains of impact, costs and benefits of possible strategies for implementing efficient measures. The SOCLIMPACT project aims to modelize the regional effects of CC and its socio-economic impact on European Islands for 2030-2100, in the context of the EU blue economy sectors, and assess the corresponding decarbonisation trajectories and adaptation to complement the projections currently available for Europe and strengthening current economic models with a non-market assessment via different actions.
